Overview

Casa Marias Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Brooklyn on Coney Island Avenue, offers a genuine taste of Mexican cuisine that feels both authentic and inviting. As a local gem, it caters to families, friends, and anyone craving the rich flavors and comforting atmosphere of a traditional Mexican taqueria.

The menu shines with staples like birria, enchiladas, and tacos al pastor, each dish prepared with care and a nod to classic recipes. The birria stands out—served as both tacos and burritos, it’s a must-try for those seeking hearty, slow-cooked meat infused with deep, savory spices. Enchiladas come dressed in careful layers of sauces, cheese, and fresh toppings, satisfying both chicken and cheese lovers alike. For lighter bites, chips with fresh guacamole hit the mark, perfect for sharing or a starter.

Casa Marias also excels in its beverage offerings, balancing traditional and creative. Their handcrafted cocktails, such as mango margaritas made with homemade syrups and mezcalitas with nuanced smoky notes, complement the food beautifully. While the frozen drinks can sometimes veer toward the icy side, the bartenders bring a level of artistry that elevates the overall experience, creating a lively yet warm environment.

Patrons often highlight the warm hospitality that extends beyond the food. The restaurant embraces a family-friendly vibe, where servers like Maria and David build connections, making patrons feel right at home. The space buzzes softly with music, adding to the casual, upbeat ambiance, though some might find it a tad loud during peak times.

While some find pricing on the higher side compared to other Mexican eateries nearby, many acknowledge the quality, freshness, and portion sizes justify the value. Delivery and takeout are handled efficiently, with food frequently arriving hot and fresh, making it a reliable choice for nearby workers or locals craving a convenient meal without sacrificing flavor.

In essence, Casa Marias is a versatile spot blending authentic Mexican flavors with heartfelt service in a neighborhood setting. Whether you're stopping by for a plate of enchiladas, a comforting chicken fajita, or a refreshing margarita, this Brooklyn kitchen delivers a satisfying taste of Mexico with every visit.

I’m in the area for work and found this place in walking distance from where I am staying. I had the chicken fajitas and the strawberry milkshake to go. The food was tasty, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere is okay and the music was a bit loud, but my wait for the food wasn’t too long, considering everything was fresh. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

Really good place and food was delicious as well. I’m surprised this local place had Birria on the menu, which was amazing. Highly recommended.

Casa Maria’s a great family restaurant. Had tacos Al Pastor and Tacos de carne enchilada which the meat was so meaty and tender. My wife had the plate of Milanesa de pollo & she enjoyed every bite of it. We highly recommend this family restaurant, they make you feel like at home with a nice enjoyable warm and cooked meal. Also can’t forget about the bartender behind the bar ! Killed it with the drinks, frozen margaritas were on point might have had two or three of them ( don’t really remember ).

Update: We went in person to eat and the waitress was really sweet. Our food came out fast and was delicious. No complaints there. The alcoholic drinks were a hit or miss. I ordered a frozen Mango Margarita which tasted too much like ice. They did it in a blender and overdid it with ice. My husband had the Jalapeño margarita on the rocks and it was good. We ordered the Kids Menu Chicken fingers and it was breaded chicken cutlets cut up in strips, but we loved it! You can tell it was freshly made in the restaurant and not from a Frozen Jetro Bag. Then we ordered a 2nd time for delivery: Steak Nachos and again the chicken fingers with fries. The nachos were generous and the delivery came fast which we appreciated. They also put a generous dallop of Guac on top of the nachos which was nice. Original: I give this restaurant 3.5 stars (not 4 stars, nor 3 stars). First timé trying them out. Never been inside so I don’t know what it looks like. This is for a delivery order. The pros: They accept credit card over the phone. Since we live 1/2 mile away, the food arrived hot and fresh and within the time they promised. They were generous with the meat topping on my Huarache. The guacamole was fresh and good. The meats used in both dishes seemed freshly cooked and both dishes were nicely assembled. The food looked appetizing when we opened the packaging. The cons: It’s very pricey compared to other Mexican spots; I wonder if it’s because of the rent? Usually, I like to call and order directly from the business instead of using Seamless or GrubHub and it’s usually cheaper - but here it was almost the same price and still pricey. I spent $39 plus tip for a burrito, chips and guacamole and 1 huarache. I wanted to get Agua frescas but each one was $4something so I decided to skip that. We wanted to order a platter but that was like $19+ and only included rice and beans OR salad. For that price, I think the platters should include all those sides. At least that’s how it is at other restaurants. So we decided to skip platters and go with cheaper options - but it was still expensive. The food was hit or miss: The burrito had tons of rice and beans and barely any meat - which is upsetting when you’re paying $13+ for it. Also my husband said it had no flavor- so he added salt. The chips and guacamole: they sent very little amount of chips for the amount we paid. Very disappointed as that’s usually a cheap item. The guacamole was sufficient and had leftover since we didn’t have enough chips to eat it with. My huarache was delicious. They put lots of meat, which felt fair since it was $13 or so. It was big too. Worth the price. We may order again whenever we don’t have any cash on us because they take cards; but it won’t be often as it is expensive.

Best Huarache I've ever had, and I eat a lot of Mexican food. The tortilla was a perfect mix of crunch with soft insides. The drinks were great made fresh with fruit. Traveled 40 min and will definitely do it again

Great service and even better food. The staff was really friendly and kind with all the questions we had and they gave great recommendations. We even discovered a new love for tamarind! The food is fireworks. Each of our dishes arriving piping hot and drenched in bold and perfectly balanced spices. The food is so good you would swear it was crafted in a family kitchen. It is the kind of place you leave full and smiling.
